Travel lesson 13: Booming

The director of the organization where I worked previously, wrote in his farewell letter to me : “Diana loves heights” and in fact is not true. My obssesie of heights by beaten to spotting one of the most beautiful animals on earth: birds.

I can spend hours and a lot of fun watching them and every move they make capture. I became a bird papparazzi ;). Obssesie or not, observing these special animals not provide me only beautiful pictures, but also many moments of reflection.

If I aware of the behavior of birds look, I see that they have much in common with us and we with them.

To begin with, they are born in a litter that they themselves have not chosen. Their parents care for them until they can fly themselves. But after the first flight they may good care of themselves and quickly find a partner. For this dissolute twittered and when it is hit, get the kids. They build together a stable and secure litter and fly them together freely until they die. Uhhhh, This may be so, but the summary of my own life. Met de correctie dat ik bij mijn eerste vlucht een noodlanding moest maken 🙂 om een crash te voorkomen.

This reflection led me to an important aspect of life: freedom. The freedom to have fought heroes all over the world, because with us, in contrast to the birds, is not obvious. The freedom that I experienced sometimes when my thoughts are on vacation. The freedom that can only be reached if we dare to soar. One that transcends ourselves.

These particular animals have inspired me to reflect on what freedom means to me and that is nothing but life without ego, without masks or roles, without pretensions and without comparisons. This is perhaps one of the most difficult targets that we have in life. A target which may be life takes you check it off. All this still reason from my ego who like to check off things and achieved targets.

Now I know what freedom means to me, remains me one thing: There is work to be truly free and hopefully one day I can wholeheartedly say: “And, I'm as free as a bird.”
