The annual Monkey

I love traditions, hence this annual overview of the monkey. Last year I made it a tradition to look back on the best ones every year, most outstanding and best highlights of my travels.

Last year 8 February and according to the Chinese calendar year of the Monkey, started our world. A year where we 9 countries visited, have had fantastic new experiences and met lovely, warm people.

In this article I want to share with you what places were unique and special, but above all what experiences have made my travels richer and otherwise. Everything on this list, I experienced myself and visited therefore I dare they recommend. Became curious?

Beste accommodatie:

Of all the furnishings we have had in the year of the Monkey is our cruise through New Caledonia & Vanuatu topper. Delicious all aboard, luxe, entertainment, a varied program and of course great value for money.

culinary topper

The culinary highlight was in Japan. Apart from the famous sushi tastier and cheaper than at home, I got my taste buds spoiled for Windows, Sashimi, Miso soep, Teriyaki, Yakitori, Okonomiyaki and takoyaki my favorite (Japaanse pancakes with squid).

Best travel experience by country:

New Zealand:

New Caledonia:

Snorkelen tussen schildpadden, beautiful coral and baby sharks. The price difference is not very big and if you book on board, heb je de garantie dat het cruiseship niet zonder jou vertrekt.

Vanuatu:

visit the uninhabited Mystery Island.

Australia:

A sailing tour of three days and two nights at The Whitsundays.

Step aboard a sailboat and get carried away by the summer vibes from Australia. On board is delicious cooked for you, you can relax in the jacuzzi as you watch the sun slowly sink into the sea.

Japan:

There are many ways to spend a night in Japan, but sleeping in a temple as I did at Mt..

Thailand:

Exploring the underwater world in Thailand was absolutely a top experience. Now with our diving diploma, We will often between fish and, why not, To find sharks. If you also want to overcome your fear of water and to enjoy the underwater world? Then Koh Lanta is a great place to reach your diving certification.

Myanmar:

Myanmar is simply magical, like floating in a balloon above the thousands of temples of Bagan.

Vietnam:

This experience we could not pass our nose going despite warnings.

best museum:

This year I did slow somewhat to what museums concerned than last year, but the Te Papa museum in Wellington, New Zealand was without doubt the best museum I have visited.

best city:

The nicest city was Tokyo. This city gave me a taste of what the future will look like.

hideaway:

Myanmar was not even travel planning, but I am so glad that plans can change and that I should meet this still virgin land. In Myanmar, I found a still unknown temple without too many people to enjoy a sunrise in silence.

funniest show:

The best show was in Monkey Mia West Australia.

Most beautiful beach:

The most beautiful beach I found in Sydney. Manly Beach was a beach with all the trimmings.

Cutest shoe store:

The best shoe store I found Tokyo to be precise in the Ginza district.

other reisgadget:

The zoom lens for my iPhone was my best gadget 2016.

Social media app 2016:

This year I made unusually extensive use of Instagram. I've got a while Instagram user but this year my passion for photography, travel and quotes together to make my come closer to feed my passions. I also find it a great way to make contact with other travel bloggers, nomads and photographers around the world. My main rule on Instagram 1 photo with quote a day no massive post of mine also expected here.

The best book 2016:

The book “The teachings of Buddha” now on my nightstand. This book was waiting for me in the temple of Mt.. Koya in Japan.

Favorite photo on Instagram:

My favorite quote:

“Until you spread your wings, you’ll have no idea how far you can fly”

The best coffee:

The best coffee I drank in Melbourne, Australië en de meest bijzondere koffie in Tokyo Japan.

The cheapest country :

The cheapest country this year was Thailand.
