It's time for ONT-BYTEN

It's time for ONT-BYTEN after my more or less obligatory session un-stuff from last year. This session was part of the preparation for my trip around the world. But now, a year later, I dare say that de-stuff has become my second nature, or at least only when it comes to say goodbye to physical stuff. Unfortunately, there arose over a larger ballast over the years that just gulping as energy and time as gathering, possess and accumulate stuff. That ballast I call BYTES. And, that invisible guzzlers we gather in all shapes and sizes, and that we just give away our precious time. The bytes Fly Me to the ears and everywhere I stumble across bytes in the form of information on the web, social media, tweets, mails, whatsapp messages, videos, part messages, not to mention my giant folder of digital photos. I totally got the creeps and I thought that now was the time to ONT-BYTEN. That's why I decided to 2017 start my ONT-BYTE project.

If you want to do this project, there are a few basic rules to get you started. Feel particularly free to adapt them to your own needs and understanding. See this project as a challenge or just as an experiment to do things differently.

The basic rules of my ONT-BYTE project are simple and everyone to follow good, the only thing that can not be missed WILLPOWER.

rule 1: Plan to be a time line instead of multiple times throughout the day. This is to prevent compulsive check moments.

rule 2: Stop all your email subscriptions where you get advertising only and discourage family, friends, customers, colleagues and acquaintances to email you. Calling is often more effective, faster, fun and nowadays free.

rule 3: Follow only people who make your life better and more beautiful.

rule 4: Download nothing and save only things you are going to use or read. Remember that what comes from the web, hear on the web.

rule 5: Post no more than 1 items, photo or whatever per day. If you are advanced, you can of course go to 1x a week, per month or year or not at all.

rule 6: Make some nice pictures i.p.v thousands of poor. Think back more often to the old roll of film of the past which you 12 of 24 could take pictures. This rule has inspired me to improve my photography skills and raise awareness pictures i.p.v. indiscriminately shooting.

rule 7: If you are digital nomad or your work online, care in your daily schedule for balance between offline and online. My main rule 80/20.

rule 8: Organise all the apps on your phone. Remove anything you do not use, this results in more space on your phone and in your head. I wish I had previously applied this rule not only on my phone, but also on my laptop.

rule 9: Find activities outside the web as: walk, photograph, draw, painting or whatever you like. All activities outside the web keep your body and head busy so you will need less BYTES.

And the last and perhaps the most important rule:

rule 10: Do not be afraid to be offline, The real world is full of surprises and new experiences. The real experts say not for nothing that offline the new place is where you should be (sorry for the word “must”).

XOXO Diana a succes met ONT-KILL.
